Hello! My name is George Mitchell, and I am a self-taught watercolour artist based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Art has always been a passion of mine, but it wasn’t until 2018 that I began seriously dedicating myself to watercolour painting. Like many artists, my early journey was filled with trial and error—I’ve torn up my fair share of failed attempts! But through perseverance, patience, and a deep appreciation for the medium, I have continued to grow and refine my skills.

Watercolour is known as one of the most challenging artistic mediums, and that’s exactly what draws me to it. Its fluidity, unpredictability, and delicate nature make every painting an exciting journey. Unlike other mediums, watercolour demands a balance of control and spontaneity, and I love the challenge it presents. There’s nothing more satisfying than completing a piece and seeing how it resonates with others, bringing joy and inspiration.

When it comes to subject matter, I don’t like to limit myself. You’ll find a diverse range of themes in my work—from delicate florals and bold abstracts to landscapes and imaginative compositions. However, one thing remains constant across all my paintings: my love for vibrant colours, striking themes, and the use of various techniques to create unique textures and effects. Each piece is a reflection of my artistic curiosity and passion for experimentation.
